Show the Presentation: Quizmaster. Working in pairs, tell learners to think of a question about designing Ancient Egyptian scrolls from the previous lesson to ask their partner. Explain to learners that they must know the answer to the question.

Learners needing support:

  • Could receive support to tear the paper strips. 
  • Could work with a partner to follow the process.


Learners working at a stretch:

  • Could write the paper making process in their visual journals, with labelled diagrams. They can suggest ways they could change the process to create different effects.
  • Could colour wash another page in their visual journal.
  • Could revisit their designs from the previous lesson and consider any improvements or changes they may want to make in preparation for painting the paper in the next lesson.
