Differentiation

Learners needing support:

  • Could work in mixed-ability pairs.
  • Could use pre-drawn or pre-cut 2D shapes.
  • Should practice all the techniques (cut, fold, roll, twist and slot card) before making a sculpture.
  • Could use rolled newspaper pieces to practice different joining techniques.

Learners working at a stretch:

  • Could refer back to what they learnt in Lesson 1: Structural shapes and apply their understanding on a larger scale.
  • Should use their own ideas for how to shape card and try new ways of joining parts of their sculptures.
  • Should reflect on their work. Ask: ‘How did you know that would work?’ ‘Why did you choose that join?’ ‘How are you working differently to last week?
