Colouring practice
This Art and design video helps learners develop their colouring skills by focusing on grip, pressure, and technique. Children are guided through how to hold a pencil for colouring, differently from writing, and how to use the side of the tip to fill spaces with smooth, even colour. The video introduces key concepts such as pressure, direction, and control, encouraging learners to avoid gaps, maintain consistent colour, and stay within the lines.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. It supports learners in building the foundational skills needed for effective colouring, helping them gain confidence in using materials with care and intention. By practising even colouring, children take an important step in developing their overall control and visual expression in art.
