Turning paper into 3D art

This Art and design video introduces learners to the idea of turning flat paper into three-dimensional drawings by shaping, folding, rolling and assembling strips of paper. They explore different paper techniques, such as spirals, zigzags, loops and curves, and use them to create sculptural artworks on a card base. The video models each method step by step and encourages learners to experiment, combine shapes and add creative details, like cuts or patterns.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 1 Sculpture and 3D: Paper play unit, this lesson supports learners in developing spatial awareness, construction skills and creative confidence. By transforming two-dimensional paper into three-dimensional art, learners gain a hands-on understanding of form, texture and composition while having fun with sculpture.
