Tree of life
This Art and design video supports teachers in delivering a lesson where children apply their paper-shaping skills to create a 3D drawing inspired by the tree of life. After exploring examples of tree of life imagery from different cultures, learners plan their own ideas before building a sculptural artwork using folded, rolled, and shaped paper strips. The activity encourages creative thinking, storytelling and problem-solving as children bring their trees to life in three dimensions.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. It helps teachers feel confident guiding learners through open-ended creative tasks that develop construction skills, cultural awareness and visual expression. By drawing on myth, nature and personal imagination, this unit supports learners in producing unique, meaningful artworks that reflect their growing confidence with sculpture.
