Transforming sculptures with metallic paint
This Art and design video guides learners through the final steps of transforming their class spider sculpture to look like it is made of bronze. They begin by painting the entire structure black using large brushes, then use sponges to gently dab on metallic paint, creating a realistic textured effect. The video reminds learners to leave some black areas visible to give the sculpture depth and a more solid, metallic appearance.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 1 Sculpture and 3D: Paper play unit, this lesson helps learners explore finishing techniques that enhance texture and surface detail, while encouraging discussion about presentation and display. By completing their collaborative sculpture, learners celebrate their creativity and teamwork through a dramatic final artwork.
