Creating texture using mixed tools
This Art and design video invites learners to explore how paint can be used to create texture. After observing and feeling textured objects, learners experiment with different tools, such as brushes, sponges, forks and even their fingers, to recreate those textures using paint. They are encouraged to mix colours, try out different techniques and choose the methods that best capture what they see and feel.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 2 Painting and mixed media: Life in colour unit, this lesson encourages learners to explore texture through playful and expressive mark making. It helps learners build confidence in experimenting with materials, making creative decisions and using descriptive language to reflect on their work.
