Creating patterns and textures
This Art and design video guides learners as they create textured and patterned paper to use in a future collage. Children think about the subject of their collage, choose suitable colours and textures and experiment with different tools to apply paint in creative ways. They are encouraged to reflect on their choices and consider how their painted paper will be used in their final artwork.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). It helps learners build confidence in using materials purposefully and expressively. As part of the Painting and mixed media: Life in colour unit, this lesson supports learners in preparing thoughtful and imaginative resources for collage-making.
