Hands-on exploration of clay

This Art and design video introduces learners to basic clay techniques, showing them how to roll, shape and make marks in clay using their hands, simple tools and everyday objects. Learners practise creating smooth surfaces, rolling sausages and balls and experimenting with different textures and patterns. The video encourages creativity and play as the children explore what they can make.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design curriculum framework (0067). It helps learners gain confidence working with clay and introduces essential skills for sculpting and texturing. As part of the Sculpture and 3D: Clay houses unit, this lesson gives children the freedom to explore and express themselves through a new material.
