Creating characters with emotion and detail
This Art and design video shows learners how to turn sketches of their friends into imaginative characters for stories. They explore how illustrators exaggerate and simplify features, like eyes, noses and expressions to make characters more fun and memorable. Learners trace over their drawings in pen, adding details, props and costumes to bring their character to life.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design curriculum framework (0067). A part of the Making connections: Superheroes unit, this lesson supports learners to develop their ability to show emotion by transforming a simple sketch into a character using expressive facial features.
