Large-scale sculpture
This Art and design video guides learners through the process of making collaborative abstract sculptures using a card and simple joining techniques. Children refer to their sketchbook plans to guide their ideas but are encouraged to problem solve and adapt as they build. They explore shaping, balancing, and fixing materials to create freestanding three-dimensional forms, while working together and reviewing their work from different angles.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. As part of the Abstract shape and space unit, this lesson helps children apply their designs practically, develop spatial awareness, and experiment with materials in a creative and collaborative way.
