This Art and design video supports teachers in guiding learners through the process of creating detailed botanical drawings. Children focus on a small section of a real flower, enlarging and refining their sketch using darker pencil, pen or ink. The video also encourages learners to observe closely, use shading techniques to show tone, and optionally add delicate watercolour washes to suggest colour and form.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. As part of the Art and design skills unit, this lesson helps learners develop their observational drawing, fine motor control and use of tonal variation.
