Arranging objects for still life

This Art and design video guides learners through the process of arranging a still-life composition in preparation for painting. Learners explore how to organise objects thoughtfully, experimenting with angles, overlapping and contrast to create an interesting layout. They work from a bird’ s-eye view, sketch their chosen composition and consider the scale and placement of each object to prepare for the final painting.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 4 Painting and mixed media: Light and dark unit, this lesson helps learners develop compositional awareness and plan effectively for their painting work.
