Making batik
This Art and design video introduces learners to a simplified batik technique using PVA glue and acrylic paint to create fabric patterns inspired by their own abstract animal drawings. Learners explore pattern design and material use, drawing directly onto fabric with glue before applying colour in later lessons. The process encourages experimentation and introduces a new way of working with textiles.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. As part of the Fabric of nature unit, this lesson expands learners’ understanding of surface design and textile processes.
