Using blocks to create code
This Computing video supports learners as they build their first complete program using the MakeCode platform. They are guided through selecting blocks, arranging them in a sequence and using the BBC micro:bit simulator to test their code. The program displays a smiley face on the micro:bit, helping learners understand how the ‘on start’ block works and how simple sequences are built in block-based coding.
This video is part of Kapow’s Computing resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Computing curriculum framework (0059). It forms part of the Stage 2 unit Block coding, helping learners grow in confidence as they create and test their own simple programs.
