Lesson 3: Painting to music

Learners needing support:

• Can use a pencil grip to hold their paintbrush comfortably while painting.
• Can be guided to identify whether the music is fast or slow, loud or quiet, and use these observations to choose the right colour or line type for their painting.
• Can focus on simpler lines like straight or wavy lines to represent the music, keeping it simple to show how they feel about the music.

Learners working at a stretch:

• Could experiment with combining different lines in response to the music.
• Could combine different colours to represent the music.
• Can explain their choices more clearly, discussing how their lines and colours show their feelings about the music and how it makes them feel.
