Differentiation
Learners needing support:
- Could complete the sorting and counting activity on slide 2 of the Presentation: Traffic jam with the teacher, instead of using the printed sheet.
- Could answer the questions on the Activity: traffic data questions orally instead of writing them down.
Learners working at a stretch:
- Should create their own question for a partner to answer using their completed data sheet.
- Could use the sentence stem ‘I know because…’ to explain how they used the data to answer questions. For example: ‘I know there are more bicycles than motorbikes because there are four bicycles and two motorbikes.’
- Could look for simple patterns in the data, such as two groups having the same number or one group being much bigger than the others, and explain what they notice.
