Recap and recall

Show learners the sculpture from the link: 'other' by Samantha Stephenson 2014. In pairs, learners show each other how to roll paper to make a tube sculpture. Encourage learners to explain the different ways they rolled and designed tubes in Lesson 1: Tube towers. Learners share one thing they talked about with the class.

Differentiation

Learners needing support:

  • Could use the 3D example shapes as models to copy.
  • Should be guided to make some paper shapes first. Help them to arrange the shapes in an interesting design on the base. Support learners to glue the shapes down.


Learners working at a stretch:

  • Could draw patterns on the white paper strips.
  • Should try different arrangements of paper shapes before glueing them down.
  • Could create original shapes of their own using the paper strips.
