Show 'Explosion, 1965-6, by Roy Lichtenstein'. Point out how the artist used colours and dots in a pattern to fill large areas. Explain that the background is a light shade, while the main action uses bright colours. Some colours are contrasting, meaning they are very different from each other and stand out when placed together.
