Craft and design: Map it out

Exploring and creating maps through different art forms (drawing, printmaking and designing stained glass). Learners develop skills in sorting, designing and evaluating art. Learners are encouraged to display their artwork in a class gallery setting.

Lessons

Lesson 1: Creative journey

  • To investigate maps as a stimulus for drawing.

Lesson 2: Relief maps

  • To develop a drawing into 3D artwork.

Lesson 3: Abstract maps

  • To experiment with a craft technique to develop an idea.

Lesson 4: Print possibilities

  • To develop ideas and apply craft skills when printmaking.

Lesson 5: Creating artwork

  • To create and present artwork, evaluating it against a design brief.
