Unit outcomes
Learners who are secure will be able to:
- Create a piece of graffiti to represent an important person.
- Explain stories or messages represented in their own or others’ artwork.
- Compose a scene that will be photographed.
- Take photos of a scene from multiple viewpoints.
- Make a photo collage inspired by David Hockney’s joiners.
- Express an emotion through an abstract multi-media artwork.
- Experiment with different techniques, tools and processes.
- Add texture and depth to an artwork using a variety of media.
- Create art freely and spontaneously in the style of Frank Bowling.

This unit offers learners the opportunity to consolidate and apply their learning from the previous Stage 6 Art and design units.Lessons

- To evaluate creative work by exploring meaning and message.
Lesson 2: Drawing with a camera
- To take photos to use in a David Hockney-style joiner.
Lesson 3: Photo collages

- To apply Frank Bowling’s painting techniques to make an expressive artwork.
Lesson 5: Adding texture and depth
- To add texture, depth and detail to a multi-media artwork in the style of Frank Bowling.
