Unit outcomes
Learners who are secure will be able to:
- Understand what computers are and how people use them.
- Know where the keys are located on the keyboard.
- Use a basic range of tools within graphic editing software.
- Develop control of the mouse by dragging, clicking and resizing images to create different effects.
- Log in and out of a computer.
Lessons
Lesson 1: What is a computer?
- To explore what a computer is and identify devices that contain computers.
Lesson 2: Logging in and exploring Sketchpad
- To create a digital picture by exploring drawing tools and using a mouse with control.
Lesson 3: Creating digital artwork with patterns
- To create digital artwork by arranging images into a repeated pattern using mouse skills.
Lesson 4: Exploring the keyboard
- To become familiar with using a keyboard to type letters and words.
Lesson 5: Using a word processor
- To understand how to use a word processor.
