Getting a bottle rocket ready to fly
In this Stage 1 Computer Science video, learners continue building their bottle rockets by adding wings and a nose cone. The video guides learners through each step, showing how to fold, cut and attach card pieces securely to create a rocket that is ready for launch. Learners see how the shape of the rocket affects how it travels, choosing between a pointy nose cone or a flat one and assembling each design using tape or glue. By following clear, practical instructions, learners develop their confidence in making, testing and adapting models.
This video is part of Kapow’s Computer Science resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Computing Curriculum Framework (0059). In the Rocket to the Moon unit, it introduces ideas about design, construction and problem-solving, encouraging learners to think creatively as they prepare their rockets for flight.
