Rolling, joining and shaping clay
This Art and design video guides learners as they practise essential clay modelling techniques to begin making their Maya-inspired face sculptures. Learners explore how to roll, shape, cut, mark and join clay pieces using the score and slip method, building their confidence in manipulating this 3D material to express form and character.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Making connections: Maya art unit, this lesson supports practical skill-building in sculpture while reinforcing creative independence and experimentation.
