Exploring the computers we use every day

In this Stage 1 Computer Science video, learners explore the many different types of computers found in everyday life. Through real-world examples, including a supermarket, the video helps learners recognise that computers come in many forms and are used for a wide range of purposes. Learners are introduced to familiar computing devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones and games consoles, and discover what these devices allow us to do. The video also highlights that some computers are hidden inside machines we use every day, such as automatic doors that rely on sensors and programmed instructions to work.

This video is part of Kapow’s Computer Science resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Computing Curriculum Framework (0059). In the Getting started: Digital skills for Computing unit, it builds an early understanding of how computers are all around us.
