Creating botanical prints with sunlight

This Art and design video guides learners through the process of creating a cyanotype, which is a blue photographic print made using sunlight. Learners select natural materials such as flowers and leaves, arrange them in a composition and use light-sensitive paper to make their own nature-inspired prints. The activity introduces basic photographic processes and encourages creativity through hands-on experimentation.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design curriculum framework (0067). In the Stage 3 Art and design skills unit, this lesson introduces learners to alternative printmaking techniques and builds confidence through playful use of natural forms and light.
