Planning an Ancient Egyptian scroll

This Art and design video guides learners through the process of designing their own Ancient Egyptian scroll. Drawing inspiration from Egyptian art, learners experiment with imagery, colours and patterns in their visual journals to express a message or story. They try out different ideas, including thumbnail sketches, and use earthy and vibrant tones to plan their final scroll design.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 3 Craft and design: Ancient Egyptian scrolls unit, this lesson helps learners develop skills in visual storytelling, composition and creative decision-making.
