Effective composition

This Art and design video teaches learners how to create an effective composition using collage. They explore the importance of balance, focal points, and the arrangement of shapes, sizes, and colours to guide the viewer’s eye. Through cutting, tearing, layering, and experimenting with packaging and paper, learners discover how to use space, texture, and layout to produce a visually engaging collage.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. As part of the Drawing with realism: Exploring tone, texture and proportion unit, this lesson helps children understand composition and apply design principles in creative ways.
