Egyptian scroll making

This Art and design video guides learners through the process of transferring their Ancient Egyptian design onto handmade papyrus-style paper. Learners begin by planning the layout and scale of their design, lightly sketching or marking out key areas before drawing. They then add colour, pattern, and detail, refining their work where needed. The lesson ends with learners turning their artwork into a scroll using string or cardboard tubes.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. As part of the Ancient Egyptian scrolls unit, this lesson helps learners apply visual planning techniques and develop control in drawing and decorative processes.
