Building relief sculptures from designs

This Art and design video guides learners through the process of creating a relief sculpture based on their own machine designs. Using cardboard, paper and simple materials, learners build up layers, explore texture and add details to bring their mechanical creations to life. The activity supports spatial awareness, problem-solving and imaginative design.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Art and design skills unit, this lesson encourages learners to experiment with form, texture and layering as they transform their 2D drawings into tactile 3D relief sculptures.
