How Nina uses a computer to learn about space
In this Stage 1 Computer Science video, learners are introduced to Nina, a young girl who dreams of travelling to the moon. Through Nina’s story, the video shows how computers can help us explore new ideas, discover information and learn about places we cannot visit ourselves.
Learners see how Nina uses a computer with her dad to find pictures and videos of astronauts and to see what life is like inside the space station. The video also highlights how imagination and creativity play a role in learning, as Nina designs her own rocket, pretends she is travelling through space and imagines what a spacewalk might feel like.
This video is part of Kapow’s Computer Science resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Computing Curriculum Framework (0059). In the Rocket to the Moon unit, it introduces early ideas about using technology purposefully to answer questions and find information online.
