Looking closely to draw accurately

This Art and design video guides learners through an observational drawing activity focused on close looking and careful sketching. Using real flowers or images, learners are encouraged to observe details such as shape, size and placement while sketching what they see. The activity helps develop focus, fine motor control and confidence in drawing from life.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, designed to support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design curriculum framework (0067). In the Stage 1 Art and design skills unit, this lesson builds learners’ confidence in observational drawing, encouraging them to look closely, sketch lightly and record real-life forms with increasing accuracy.
