Painting techniques
This Art and design video introduces learners to a variety of painting techniques used by artists to create texture, movement and mood. Learners experiment with dabbing, stippling, washes, pointillism and textured paint by adding materials like salt or glitter. They are also encouraged to explore painting without brushes, using tools such as sponges or spatulas to create expressive effects.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. As part of the Light and dark unit, this lesson helps learners develop confidence with painting tools and techniques, encouraging creativity and expressive mark making.
