Experimenting with texture and colour
This Art and design video introduces learners to a range of painting techniques they can use to experiment with texture, colour and mark making. From dabbing and stippling to washes and pointillism, learners explore how different tools and methods, like using cotton buds or sponges, can create a variety of effects in their artwork. The video encourages playful exploration of materials and reflects on how famous artists have used these techniques.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Painting & mixed media: Artist study unit, this lesson inspires learners to experiment with expressive painting techniques in preparation for creating imaginative animal artworks.
