Using a computer to sort and organise data
This Computing video demonstrates how computers can be used to sort and organise data so it is easier to understand and use. Using a zoo animal dataset as an example, it shows how data can be sorted by popularity or in alphabetical order, and how filtering can hide unnecessary information to focus on what is important. Learners see how sorting and filtering can help answer questions, solve problems and support decision-making, such as creating posters to promote the zoo.
This video is part of Kapow’s Computing resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Computing Curriculum Framework (0059). In the Managing data: Introduction to data unit, learners find out what data is and collect, sort and organise it to help answer questions.
