Designing installations with explosive effects

This Art and design video guides learners as they create miniature installation spaces inspired by the work of Cai Guo-Qiang. Using cardboard boxes, stencils and a variety of art materials, learners experiment with explosive visual effects while thinking about space, scale and the impact of their design.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 5 Sculpture and 3D: Interactive installation unit, this lesson develops learners’ understanding of how space and materials can work together to communicate mood and meaning in contemporary 3D art.
