Learner video: Still life

This Art and design video supports learners as they apply their knowledge of colour mixing and painting techniques to complete a still life composition. Learners work from their own photo or arranged objects, selecting suitable painting methods and mixing tints and shades to show light and dark. They practise creating contrast and depth to make their objects appear three-dimensional, and finish by framing their artwork with a bold mounting technique.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design framework. As part of the Light and dark unit, this lesson helps learners consolidate their skills in colour, tone and composition to produce expressive, realistic paintings.
