Planning features for Maya sculpture

This Art and design video guides learners as they design a Maya-inspired face sculpture. Drawing on examples from Maya art and architecture, learners explore how facial features, expressions and decorative elements can be used to show character and meaning. They are encouraged to think about shape, form and detail as they plan their own expressive 3D face sculpture.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 6 Making connections: Maya art unit, this lesson helps learners build connections between past cultures and their own creative responses through sculpture.
