Building sculptures with paper tubes
This Art and design video introduces learners to sculpture by showing them how to make their own 3D artwork using rolled paper tubes. Learners explore how to roll, shape and attach paper tubes to a card base, using different techniques and experimenting with height, width and colour. The video encourages problem-solving and creativity while explaining how sculptures are different from flat artworks like paintings and drawings.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 1 Sculpture and 3D: Paper play unit, this lesson helps learners develop their understanding of three-dimensional form, material manipulation and construction. By creating their own tube tower sculptures, they build confidence in making choices, testing ideas and expressing themselves through playful, hands-on making.
