Abstract art through wax resist
This Art and design video guides learners through the process of creating expressive wax resist drawings inspired by their collage compositions. Using scratching tools, learners explore mark making techniques, such as hatching and parallel lines, to reveal bold colours beneath the paint. They experiment with contrast, texture and abstract shapes, building confidence in their creative decision-making.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Stage 4 Art and design skills unit, this lesson develops learners’ ability to apply surface techniques and create visually striking abstract compositions.
