Weaving with paper strips

This Art and design video introduces learners to the basics of weaving using paper. Children learn key terms like warp and weft, and follow instructions to weave colourful strips over and under a paper loom. The video helps learners recognise patterns as they work and encourages careful hand movements and attention to detail.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). As part of the Craft and design: Woven wonders unit, this lesson supports the development of fine motor skills, pattern recognition and an understanding of structure and repetition in art. Through this activity, learners build confidence in a fundamental craft technique that prepares them for more complex fibre work in future lessons.
