Using drawing tools with confidence
This skills video introduces a variety of drawing materials beyond standard pencils, helping teachers understand how each one can support learners’ creativity and skill development. It explains the grading system of pencils and graphite sticks, and explores expressive materials like charcoal, wax crayons, oil pastels and soft pastels. Each material is described in terms of texture, blending potential and classroom suitability, including practical tips for use. Teachers are encouraged to experiment with the materials themselves to build confidence when modelling for learners.
