Creating three-dimensional drawings with tone

This Art and design video explains how to teach children how to use tone to make drawings look three-dimensional. Learners explore shading techniques to create lighter and darker areas, helping to show depth, form and texture. They practise using pencils or other materials to make smooth tonal transitions and create realistic effects.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). As part of the Drawing: Developing drawing skillunit, this lesson inspires learners to explore how to blend tones and develop shading techniques.
