Exploring new things with confidence

Research from the New Economics Foundation, MIND and the NHS identifies five ways to improve wellbeing: Discover, Take notice, Connect, Give and Move. These themes shape the strands that run through our Wellbeing lessons.

This video focuses on the Discover strand, which is about finding out or trying something new. Discovering helps build confidence, self-esteem and a sense of purpose, while encouraging perseverance and a growth mindset.

Through the Discover lessons, children learn that making mistakes is part of learning, that practice makes progress, and that trying new things can be fun and rewarding. As they move through primary school, these lessons help them develop resilience, face challenges positively and feel confident about their future.
