Developing confidence with drawing materials
This Art and design video introduces teachers to a range of drawing materials and their expressive qualities, helping them feel confident in modelling techniques and offering learners broader artistic experiences. It explores the use and characteristics of materials such as graphite sticks, charcoal, oil and soft pastels and crayons, alongside techniques like sgraffito and blending. Teachers are encouraged to experiment with these themselves to support creative, informed delivery.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). As part of the Drawing: Expressive drawing and mark making unit, this lesson helps learners develop confidence using a range of drawing tools to express movement and texture.
