Applying learning in computing projects
This Stage 1 Computing video introduces the integrated project Rocket to the Moon, which concludes the first stage of the Kapow Computing curriculum. The video explains how each stage ends with an integrated project that allows learners to apply their knowledge and skills across all five strands of the curriculum.
In Rocket to the Moon, learners help Nina and her friend Luca solve problems using what they have learned throughout the year. They explore how computers and networks help people communicate, build and test bottle rockets, fix errors in sets of instructions, collect and organise data and program Bee-Bots to travel to the moon.
This video is part of Kapow’s Computing resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Computing Curriculum Framework (0059). The project strengthens understanding by revisiting key concepts from earlier units including algorithms, debugging and data handling. Teachers are reminded to highlight links between topics to help learners make meaningful connections in their computing learning journey.
