This Art and design video helps teachers guide learners as they explore how drawing can be used to inspire three-dimensional artwork. Learners take inspiration from the work of artist Magdalene Odundo, experimenting with chalk on large paper to create free-flowing shapes and curved forms. Working outside where possible, they use expressive movement and sweeping lines to explore shape, form and tone on a large scale, developing early ideas for 3D design.
This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). As part of the Sculpture and 3D: Mega materials unit, this lesson encourages creative risk-taking and helps learners connect two-dimensional drawing with three-dimensional thinking.
