Designing posters with cut-out images

This Art and design video supports teachers in introducing learners to photomontage through the work of artists like Hannah Höch. Learners explore composition and visual storytelling by creating cityscape posters made from cut-out images of household products, arranged to meet a design brief. The video guides teachers through helping learners plan, select and layer images thoughtfully, while experimenting with backgrounds, tones and layout.

This video is part of Kapow’s Art and design resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Art & Design Curriculum Framework (0067). In the Craft and design: Photo opportunity unit, this lesson builds learners’ understanding of design, composition and visual communication through creative collage.
