Asking questions to collect data
This Computing video helps teachers guide learners to ask clear, purposeful questions when collecting data. It shows how the type of question links to the data collected, including categorical, discrete and continuous data. It also explains the difference between statistical and non-statistical data. Examples demonstrate how different questions produce groups, counts or measurements, and how comparing answers can change the data’s classification.
This video is part of Kapow’s Computing resources, which support the Cambridge Primary Computing Curriculum Framework (0059). In the Managing data: Introduction to data unit, learners find out what data is and collect, sort and organise it to help answer questions.
